This luxuriously appointed villa is very spacious and has a substantial enclosed courtyard garden designed by Chelsea Flower Show gardener Penny Smith. The garden provides a lawned area ideal for sunbathing and playing, leading up to a fully-fenced heated swimming pool. There is also a vine-covered portico for barbeques and al fresco dining.

The newly renovated villa combines modern facilities with many original features including barrel vaulted ceilings, the old wine press, a cellar with the original wine barrels, and a spectacular hand-painted fresco ceiling in the dining room.

Il Cortile is within easy driving distance of five major airports - Genoa, Turin, Milan Linate, Malpensa and Bergamo.

The property has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, and will comfortably accommodate up to 14 people.

ACCOMMODATION

Ground Floor:

Kitchen - Fully fitted kitchen with table. Fridge freezer, five burner stove, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Stable Lounge - Off the kitchen there is a large family room, formerly the stable, with vaulted ceilings and two sets of double doors onto the garden. It has cream sofas, a 40 inch wall mounted LCD television, a DVD player and a wood-burning stove.

Tavernetta Lounge - To the back of the house is the old wine press room, which retains the restored wine press. This room has leather sofas and armchairs, a large inglenook fireplace and a CD player. There is a WC just off the tavernetta.

Dining Room - Beside the kitchen is the dining room with the original (now restored) hand-painted ceiling, a Murano chandelier and a large square table which seats up to 14 people.

Utility room - Washing machine, tumble drier, iron, sink and storage for towels and bed linen etc. Stairs down to the cellar

First Floor:

Master bedroom suite - With a king size cream iron double bed, doors leading onto the hay loft terrace, and double doors leading into the ensuite bathroom with a large shower, bath, toilet, bidet, double sinks on a dark oak unit, and an additional vanity area in the corner.

Bedroom 2 - Two single cabin beds with pull-out beds underneath (so could sleep four).

Bedroom 3 - Bedroom with bed that can be set up either as a king size or two singles

Bathroom - Family bathroom with bath, shower, hand basin, bidet and toilet

Bedroom 4 Courtyard suite - Large bedroom overlooking the garden with a king size bed, leading into a large ensuite bathroom overlooking the garden with bath, shower, toilet, bidet and hand basin.

Second Floor:

Bedroom 5 Eaves suite - King size iron bed, leading into an ensuite shower room with shower, hand basin, toilet and bidet.

Bedroom 6 - Bedroom with bed which can either be set up as a king size or as a twin room

Bedroom 7 - Bedroom with double pine bed

Bathroom - Shower room with shower, hand basin, bidet and toilet.

OUTSIDE

The south facing garden is broadly split in half between a large lawned area and a fully-fenced pool area. The heated pool is 10 metres by 5 metres and surrounded by loungers and umbrellas. To the side of the pool there is a pool house housing a shower and a toilet. The garden is edged in bay hedges, with cypress trees along the pool edge, and the fencing area is lined with lavenders and box planting.

Two small formal Italian par terre gardens line the path from the house to the pool. Just outside the kitchen, on the lawned part of the garden, there is a large covered portico planted with vines and weeping pears, with handmade table and benches for al fresco dining. A large walnut tree provides additional shade to the garden. Guests may also use the gas-fired barbeque at the property.
