Flights to Northwest Italy

There are plenty of options if you fly from the UK, and the competition keeps prices low. Milan Linate, Turin and Genoa are about the same distance from the vineyards of South Piedmont - about an hour by car. Milan Malpensa is a bit further away - about an hour and a half. From either Nice in the south of France, or Milan Bergamo to the east of Milan, the journey takes about two and a half hours: the advantage is that these destinations are served by several additional UK regional airports. Flights from further afield, including the USA, usually fly into Milan Malpensa.

Italian Railways Timetable

There's a new train service that's well worth investigating: put your car on a sleeper train in Düsseldorf, and arrive relaxed and refreshed the next morning in Alessandria on the edge of Piedmont's wine region. Düsseldorf is a 4 hour drive from Calais, or a 3 hour drive from either Rotterdam or the Hook of Holland. The train leaves Düsseldorf at 15:54 every Sunday evening from March to October, and arrives at 07:45 the following day in Alessandria:
